96 SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER FESTIVE SEASON CRIMES IN RWENZORI WEST

A total of 96 suspects in Rwenzori west are behind bars at Fort portal police station following crimes committed during the festive season.
The crimes committed range from murder, theft and accidents.
According to Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori West police spokesperson, two murder cases were reported in Kyenjojo district in which among them was Lucy Abigaba aged 19 years who was stabbed several times with a knife before she breathed her last.
Police say Lucy was a bar attendant in Butunduzi village and police have already arrested her boyfriend Abdul Karim Kabagambe aged 36 because he used to threaten her.
Also in Kabarole, police recorded another case of murder in which a 62 year old Patrick Kisembo, a resident of Kiguma central in Bukuku was murdered.
Police say the deceased was strangled before he died. Two suspects who police believe killed him after suspecting him of stealing their two bunches of banana have already been arrested.
In Bundibugyo district, one person is said to have died because of excessive alcohol while another one committed suicide.
Ntoroko district and Bunyangabu district were the most peaceful over the festive season since no single case was reported according to police.
Lydia revealed that so far 42 suspects were arrested from Fort portal, 32 from Kyenjojo district while 22 were from Kyegegwa district.
However, the police spokesperson described the cases reported as a few isolated cases and praised the police officers plus their sister agencies for the job well done in keeping law and order over the festive season.
