BUSHENYI: KATUNGU MISSION HOSPITAL PROJECT GETS CBC MACHINE

Katungu Mission Hospital Project has received a Complete Blood Count machine-CBC also known as Haematology analyzer. The project is a West Ankole Diocese and Church of Uganda founded health facility.
The newly acquired machine worth 21 million Ugandan shillings has been purchased with the help of the West Ankole Diocese Health Cooperative Committee and has already been handed over to the hospital project awaiting installation. The hospital will be able to use the new machine effective next week.
The machine is expected to ease health service delivery, benefiting people of West Ankole Diocese and beyond since the service will accessed at a cheaper fee.
CBC machines are used widely in patient and research settings to count and characterize blood cells for disease detection and monitoring.
Sophisticated analyzers measure cell morphology and can detect small cell populations to diagnose rare blood conditions.
A complete blood count (CBC) gives important information about the kinds and numbers of cells in the blood, especially red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
A CBC helps a doctor check any symptoms, such as weakness, fatigue, or bruising, a patient may have. It also helps in diagnosing conditions, such as anemia, infection, and many other disorders.
