HEAVY RAINS RAVAGE CROPS, LIVESTOCK IN RUKIGA

The heavy down pour on Thursday washed away several gardens and animals in Rwamucucu Sub County in Rukiga district. The roads were also left some roads impassable.
According to the Rwamucucu Sub County LC5 Councilor Eddy Mugisha, the rain started on Thursday afternoon at around 03:20 pm up to 6pm.
He says that it the rain left food crops and banana plantations destroyed. He adds that the rain left Kangondo-Rushebeya and Sindi-Maheru roads impassable which has paralyzed transport in the area.
Mugisha noted that the most affected areas are Kitojo, Nyarurambi, Ibumba, Nyakagabagaba, Burime, parishes saying that a total number of 8 goats have so far been discovered dead and other 10 sheep and goats are still missing.
He said that they are worried on how they are going to survive if the heavy down pour continues in such way thus calling for urgent attention from the disaster and preparedness ministry to see how they can help the people before reaching at the level of Bududa incident where over 50 people died over floods.
