One person is being admitted in critical condition in Kabale after a truck loaded with cement he was driving skidded off the road and overturned.

The accident happened last evening at Bubare along the Kabale Kisoro Road, police says.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the truck number UBC 560D was transporting Simba Cement from Tororo to Bunagana in Kisoro district.

The truck driver, Hussein Turyamuhweba who was admitted at Rugarama Hospital, is said to have failed to negotiate a sharp bend.

He ended up landing in a roadside stream where much of the cement was damaged, Maate said.

He added that the police managed to save 105 bags of cement whereas the rest was soaked in the stream where the trailer poured them.

Police visited the scene and the vehicle was retrieved from the stream. Investigations are underway, Matte said.
