Valuables worth millions of shillings were stolen when thieves broke into CLUSA, a non-governmental organization and Masindi district agricultural officer’s offices in Masindi town.
Unidentified thieves on Tuesday night gained access into the two offices separated by a door after breaking the wire mesh in the ventilators and metal bars from the window to CLUSA’s office and carried out all properties from the offices.
The two offices which share a building with Masindi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), UPDF Field Artillery public relations among other government offices are located next to the District Internal Security Officer’s office.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com, the Masindi district agricultural officer Job Byaruhanga said that he could tell the items that were stolen from the offices since he could not access office before police visits the scene but he confirmed a brand new desktop computer was stolen.
Bosco Otulo, the CLUSA’s communications manager said that a printer worth over 3 million shillings, motorcycle riding gear are among the items that were taken from CLUSA office and also siphoned fuel from the motorcycles that were in the office.
Otulo added that the matter had been reported to police.
The district police commander Samuel Odongo confirmed the reports when contacted revealing that police had started investigations aimed at recovering the stolen items and arrest the thieves.
As this incident was not the first to happen at the block, www.mknewslink.com also learnt that last week, thieves broke into the office of Masindi Legal Aid Clinic located on the same block where they reportedly took unspecified items.
