KABALE BASED RADIO STATION CLOSED OVER UNPAID TAXES

In kabale
Freedom Radio 94.7 FM, a Kabale based radio station has been closed by Central division authorities in Kabale municipality due to accumulating unpaid taxes.
Our reporter who visited the station found it closed with two pad rocks on the station’s door but could hear some people talking inside the station building, whom he suspected to be some presenters.
According to the demand note, the unpaid tax totaling to 602,000 shillings combine the station’s ground rent and property tax, for the 2018/2019 financial year.
The Town clerk Central division Alex Bingana, noted that Freedom radio had been served with several notices reminding them to clear their outstanding tax and rent arrears but had never shown any commitment to clear their debts.
www.mknewslink.com could not get a response on the matter from the director Freedom radio Justus Orishaba Bagamuhunda, because when he was contacted, he switched off his phone.
