NTUNGAMO MUNICIPALITY TO COMPENSATE BUSINESSMAN FOR DESTROYED FURNITURE

Magistrate’s court in Ntungamo presided over by Magistrate Grade I Ms Hadija Namayanja on Wednesday ordered Ntungamo municipal council to evaluate for compensation properties confiscated from a furniture show room of Businessman Sunday Ramanzan following failures in mediation.
Sunday sued Ntungamo Municipal council and individuals, Tandeka Festo the town clerk, Frank Ankunzire the municipal engineer, Steven Muhwezi a law enforcement officer, Boaz Kumwesiga a councilor in the municipal council and Mr Niyitegyeka Damacen his former land lord for malicious damage and illegal eviction of his premises.
Through his Lawyers Odeke and Co advocates he accuses the authorities for confiscating his properties including 11 beds, 2 sofa set chairs, 2 dinning sets, Doors of mahogany and mangavu, Double shutter doors, 10 door flames, several Tv stands, coffee sets, curtain boxes, design machine, drill machine, hummer, paint jerry cans, stain and nails valued at UShs 29,887,000=.
Hearing the case on Wednesday, Magistrate Ms Namayanja dismissed plea by the solicitor general to have the businessman given the remaining properties and have the lost compensated ordering for reevaluation of all the properties so that Mr Ramathan is given proper compensation if negotiations are to be effective.
Municipal authorities destroyed several wooden buildings that had cropped up on the Ntungamo mirama hills road on October 19 2018 part of which had a show room for furniture of businessman Mr Sunday manned by former Ntungamo mayor Mr John Barigye.
