Councilors of Nyakabirizi division in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality have today 27th Aug 2019 put their chairperson LC III Juliet Beyeza and town clerk Jackline in a tight spot after rejecting a photocopier machine the two bought for the division.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com, the speaker Nyakabirizi division Mackay Twijukye said that councilors recommended the procurement of a photo copier machine and chairs worth Ugx5M, Ugx2m respectively but Juliet the chairperson instead used all the money to buy a Canon Photocopier without their consent.
He added that Juliet claims she bought the machine in question at Ugx7m but to them it should be for only Ugx3m.
Mackay asserted that as the council, they have resolved to reject the machine because they want a photocopier for five million shillings and chairs worth two million shillings.
When asked why she didnt follow councilors recommendations, Juliet responded saying that when she was ordering for the machine, she found out that the one they wanted was an old model and decided to buy a new model for Ugx7million that works better.
She added that she was trying to catch time because the financial year was about to end before they could buy it.
However, councilors say that they have always made agreements from the meetings but later she ends up amending them.
In the same meeting, two area councilors Canon Eliasafu Tabaaro and Mereth Nyongirwe both from Ntungamo Ward joined the Nyakabirizi Division council after the ward was recently added into the municipality from kyeizooba sub county
