KABALE DVO VOWS TO DEAL WITH PIG DEALERS DEFYING QUARANTINE

Department of Veterinary in Kabale district has deployed security authorities in local areas to impound and investigate pork and pig dealers who have defied the Quarantine.

According to the Kabale District Veterinary Officer Bernard Kabagambe,as the district responsible authorities, they are ready to imprison and impound all the pork and pig dealers who still insist on selling yet they imposed quarantine.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com yesterday at Kabale district yard in a meeting between Kabale veterinary officers Dr.Bernard said that the purchase of live pigs and pork products, were prohibited until the quarantine is lifted but he is still shocked that some people still deal in pig products.

On September 11, 2019, the quarantine on the movement of pigs and its products was imposed in Kabale district and on September 18, 2019, in Rubanda by the Commissioner of Animal Health Dr. Anna Rose Ademun after a total of 225 pigs in two districts were confirmed dead following the outbreak of the African swine fever in July.

Kabagambe cautioned all the people who still claim that they are unware of the quarantine noting that whoever is caught will be taken to court, jailed and charged accordingly.
