MINISTER MBAYO ATTRIBUTES CORRUPTION AMONG RDCs TO COMMUNITIES

The minister of presidency Esther Mbayo has attributed the habit of corruption among Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to connivance with the people in communities they serve.
Minister Mbayo revealed this while addressing the press after an evaluation workshop for RDC’s services in South Western Uganda Region held at Western Meridian Hotel in Bushenyi District yesterday.
She said that RDCs are not expected to conspire with any person in the communities but instead do their mandated work diligently.
“We have seen land grabbing and wrangles in the communities, it is the people that are making RDCs corrupt and they are expected to be non partisan,” Minister Esther said.
In the same workshop, Mbayo encouraged RDCs to supervise and implement government programs by sensitizing citizens on what the government is planning to do or what it has already done.
She also urged RDCS to always be informed before giving out information to the people.
Mbayo said that RDCs should always be updated and have relevant information about government services and plans before giving out information to the people which will help people to also be updated.
The evaluation workshop for RDC’s services was initially being held in Kyankwanzi but according to Mbayo this year’s workshops will be done regionally because people in different regions face different problems.
