KISORO LANDSLIDES KILL THREE PEOPLE

Three bodies that were swept away by landslides during a heavy down pour in Kisoro district have been recovered on Thursday.14 Nov.2019.

The deceased were identified as Richard Ngabirano aged 17 who was grazing goats, Oliver Nyiramutuzo aged 28 and Flora Nyamishana aged 36 who was weeding millet with other two women at the time of the tragic incident.

On 13^th Oct. 2019 at around 14:00 hours, five people were washed away by landslides during a heavy down pour in Bikokora village, Nteko parish Nyabwishenya sub county in Kisoro district.

Two of them were instantly rescued and they include Sylvia a wife of Stanley Balitonda who was rushed to Nteko health centre, and Nyamishana’s three months baby girl rushed to Poters village health facility.

According to sources, the information of the tragic landslides was delivered by the Nyabwishenya Sub County LC5 councilor Mr. Bahinyiza.

The hunt for those people continued from then until when they were recovered.

The case was registered under file SD 63/13/11/2019 refers.
