NTOROKO MEN RUN AWAY FROM FAMILIES, 60% HOMES AFFECTED
responsibilities and family burden to women.
The situation is now compelling women to do all sorts of work to
ensure that families thrive without husbands.
The district community development Officer Ms Evelyn Koburungi says
cases of men shunning their families and responsibilities are alarming
in the district adding that at least 10 cases of such a nature are
reported to her office every week.
Koburungi attributed the problem to early marriages a situation she
says are forcing men fail to attend to their families hence leaving
them with no alternative but to abandon them.
She said as district they are doing the best to counsel men and
sometimes use courts of law in an attempt to reverse the trend.
The Woman MP Ntoroko district Ms Annah Tumwine said the practice that
has seriously destabilized over 6o percent family units is hampering
development in the district.
She said currently leaders are trying their best to sensitise people
in the district about such bad cultural practices as they think of
coming up with better methods in supporting them.
