MASINDI RESIDENTS PETITION RDC OVER SHODDY WORK ON ROADS

Residents in Kijura south in central division Masindi municipality have today raided the office of the Resident District Commissioner petitioning him to intervene in their concern regarding the shoddy work on two roads in the last financial year.

Residents led by their chairman LC1 Kijura south, Alfred Kwamya today 20^th Nov.2019 protested against the two roads which include Rwebikohi 1.2 KM which was done at a cost of UGX10M and Abia Kasigwa road 1 KM done at UGX11M.

These blamed the municipal authorities of failing to do an oversight noting that the two roads were done but there is no value for money at all.

Residents being helped by RDP Uganda delivered petition to the RDC’s office and informed him that they have tried all means to address their issue to the Municipal engineer and his team but all were in vain.
According to the secretary for production Kijura south Emmanuel Murungi, whenever they tried to address their issue, the technical people at the municipality would instead abuse and treat them bad.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter, LC1 chairman Alfred Kwamya explained that according to the bills of quantities (BoQs), the engineers were supposed to do bush clearing, grading and install culverts but nothing was done

He added that this forced the residents under his leadership to organize for a village meeting on Saturday last week in which they resolved to petition the RDC such that he can intervene and it was endorsed by over 100 people.

During the Masindi municipality budget conference held yesterday, Bagonza Fredrick Mandela the chairperson LC III central division registered the two roads as a success in the last financial year something which irked the residents.

Responding to the petitioners, Godfrey Nyakahuma, the RDC Masindi assured them that he was going to write to the mayor Masindi municipality, Joab Businge, the Municipal Engineer John Kasaija and the Town clerk Joel Musisi to inform them that he would go on the ground this Friday to ascertain the situation.
