Bushenyi district councilors have today tasked the Chief Administrative Officer Malik Mahabba to pay district road gangs before Christmas so as they can also celebrate happily the birth of Jesus Christ.
According to councilors who were in the district council session, Bushenyi district road gangs have not yet received their salaries for the past three months and they have started attacking the office of the district chairperson demanding for their salaries.
However, Mahabba Malik the Bushenyi district CAO explained that money to pay the road gangs is available but the list of people who were recruited is different from that of those who are working on the roads.
He added that he suspected ghost workers so he wanted to first enquire from the recruitment officers and was informed that people who were recruited turned down the offer.
Mahabba noted that they were supposed to go into another recruitment exercise in order to have proper records.
Councilors revealed that those who were recruited turned down the offer because of delayed payments so they advised the technical staff to always pay road gangs in time.
The Bushenyi district RDC Jolly Tibemanya advised CAO to always work with sub-county chairpersons and be given copies of those that are recruited to avoid misunderstandings.
