The head teacher Kisindizi primary school in Pakanyi sub county Masindi district together with his primary one teacher have been arrested on allegations of asking for money from parents.
Ajileo Byenkya the head teacher and his primary one teacher only identified as Jenifer were arrested yesterday from their school on orders of RDC Masindi district Godfery Nyakahuma.
Nyakahuma told www.mknewslink.com that the head teacher allegedly asked for 26,000 shillings from a parent who had gone to register her two new children at the school in primary one where he asked for 13000 shillings per child.
Nyakahuma said  government does not allow any government aided school to charge any money from learners adding that they will not allow this and the head teacher will appear in court.
Cosmas Byaruhanga the chairman of the district also condemned the act of asking for money from parents in government schools but expressed concern over the arrest of the head teacher saying it required much investigation before his arrest.
Byaruhanga noted that yesterday was the first day for the learners to report at school and if it starts with such cases it may demoralize some head teachers from performing their duties.
Efforts to get a comment from the accused head teacher were futile by press time.
