Mbarara municipal authorities have revealed that the central market is to start operating in may this year.
This was revealed today 09th March 2020 by the deputy mayor Mbarara municipality Francis Bemanya at his office in Mbarara while in an interview with www.mknewslink.com reporter.
Bemanya said that initially the central market was supposed to be opened in February but the engineers and the government realized that the activities on the very market were not going to be finished in the time scale provided earlier.
He told our reporter that now they are currently doing roofing and painting hoping that vendors will be entitled to their market as early as May this year.
The central market was funded by the world bank in 2018 and it was supposed to take two years but the government found out that they needed an extension to finish the work that was earlier projected by engineers.
It should be noted that vendors were since shifted to the independence park where they are currently operating from.
