BESIGYE’SÂ COURT CASES IN RUKUNGIRI ADJOURNED TO APRIL 6TH

The case in which former FDC party president Col. Dr Kizza Besigye and four others are accused of inciting violence, causing malicious damage and assaulting Police officers in Rukungiri has been adjourned to April 6.2020.
Besigye, the FDC party chief mobilizer, Ingrid Turinawe, together with FDC party President Patrick Amriat appeared before the Rukungiri chief Magistrate Hassan Ntaro for the mention of their cases.
Ntaro the chief magistrate Rukungiri district said the accused reached the court premises late and Attorney general requested for time to gather enough evidence thus the adjournment of cases to April 6.2020.
They are charged with different offences they allegedly committed on 26th. November 2018 when the party had planned to hold memorial prayers for party supporters who died in October 2017 during a rally against the amendment of the presidential age limit.
The charges include damaging of property, inciting violence and assaulting Police officers on duty among others.
Security remained tight in Rukungiri town as Besigye and his co-accused travelled through the town to the court. They were tightly escorted by Police.
Speaking to our reporter after the court session, Dr Besigye said all these are just wastage of their time and resources saying that he is ready for all trials but will keep on struggling till he saves the nation from poor governance.
