TWO KISORO FOOD MARKETS CLOSED FOR FAILING TO HEED TO PRESIDENTIAL GUIDELINES

Kisoro District Coronavirus Task force committee led by the RDC Capt. Peter Mugisha have closed Kisoro old market and Rusiza markets for failing to a bide by the government corona virus preventive guidelines.
Captain Mugisha told www.mknewslink.com reporter that two weeks ago the two markets were stopped from operating on Monday and Thursdays but allowed to operate on other days to reduce on congestion and traders were asked to maintain 4-meter social distance in all directions between the buyer and the seller.
The traders were also asked to provide hand washing facilities for everyone entering the market and the vendors to sleep in the market and stop going back home to avoid exposure to their family members.
The RDC however said that the Task force and the municipal technical staff have frequently visited two markets to check on compliance with market guidelines and found that they had failed to comply hence the closure.
However Richard Ndyana, the Mayor Kisoro Municipality said that the authorities will work with the leadership of the market vendors to see that within two days they will put in place what is lacking.
Ndyana said that the vendors will construct stalls and give them space of four meters but asked the security to reduce on the harsh treatment of the people.
He also said Municipality will not collect taxes from traders but they don’t need to be overcrowded.
