RUKUNGIRI MAN SHOT BY MBARARA POLICE LAID TO REST AT TEARFUL SENDOFF

A 53 year old man who was shot by the counter terrorism police officers in Mbarara city on 18th of this month has finally been laid to rest at his home after spending 4 days in mortuary at Mbarara referral hospital.
Ivan Rwabihegye Saturday a resident of Bugangari sub- county in Rukungiri district died on spot after he was shot by the counter terrorism police officers while a sleep on his way from Kampala to Rukungiri district.
The deceased was shot alongside the western youth hopeful MP Simon Katuramu by the counter terrorism officers attached to Mbarara central police station who fired live bullets to stop a truck driver from dodging the heavy truck weighing station in Mbarara city, according to Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira.
Kasasira added that Katuramu is currently admitted at Mbarara referral hospital in critical conditions while Cpl Osoda John Davis who shot Rwabihegye is currently in detention together with the fuso driver reg. no. UBF 109D Patrick Mutabazi.
Preaching at the send off ceremony of Late Rwabihegye, Rev. Canon. Edidiya Mugyenzi who led the function told mourners to prepare themselves saying that death has no time therefore they are always be ready to meet their creator in heaven.
Rev. Johnson Byekwaso, a brother to the deceased called for Justice saying that his brother should not die like a dog that has no relatives.
He added that the government of Uganda should have at least attended the send off ceremony to explain to the mourners what took place but none was present adding that he is will not sit until justice is seen.
Late Rwabihegye survived with 10 children and 2 wives.
