MBARARA: TYCOON BALYA’S SONS ARRESTED FOR BLOCKING ROAD IN PROTEST TO SALE OF THEIR PROPERTY

Two sons of tycoon Apollo Balya were yesterday 23rd, August,2020 at around 0830/c arrested by police for blocking Mbarara Masaka road with trucks in protest to court brokers action of putting their father’s property on sale.

The two; Ambrose Musinguzi and Arnold Nuwagaba were arrested alongside their friend Abdul Mbabali for stopping other road users along the Mbarara-Masaka road after parking trucks of Balya stint hardware in the middle of the road.

According to Rwizi police spokesperson ASP Samson Kasasira, the act was in protest to the takeover of their property by Orient bank after their father defaulted 9 billion shillings he acquired from the bank as a loan.

“As police our mandate is to protect life and property so we intervened to avoid any acts of violence or even possible death because the guards Manning these properties are armed and it’s on that note that the three were arrested for inciting violence and obstructing the road, inconsiderate of other road users, “Kasasira noted.
