NRM aspiring district councillor for Ryakarimira Town Council is likely not to end the race following the disappearance of his name from Yellow book.
Elijah Ninsiima, an aspiring candidate for District councillor Ryakarimira Town Council District Councillor in Ndorwa west Kabale district on the NRM primaries is missing from the area’s National Resistance Movement Voters’ register (Yellow book)
Ninsiima was nominated for the seat, to battle March Boaz, the incumbent Rubaya Sub County councillor in Kabale district. Ryakarimira Town council was last year curved from Rubaya Sub County.
According to the NRM party election guidelines, the display of voters’ registers exercise is supposed to end tomorrow. The exercise was intended at giving a chance to eligible party voters to confirm their appearance in the NRM registers so that they qualify to vote in the forthcoming party elections.
The exercise was also intended at giving a chance to making adjustments and corrections in case any voter encountered any challenges regarding their details.
Ninsiima however told our reporter that he was surprised when he went to his village in Nyamiryango Rukore ward Ryakarimira Town Council Kabale district but could not trace his name in the party’s voters’ register.
Ninsiima noted that he has always been a registered NRM member voting from Ryakarimira market polling station and wondered how this time round his name is missing from the register.
He said his’ missing from the register could be an intended move geared by his political opponents to stop him from voting himself and participating in the party elections.
The Nyamiryango Village Chairperson Pyson Twesigye asked for the intervention by the district NRM party leadership to save the situation, saying its dividing party members in the area.
The Ryakarimira Town Council registrar Robert Byomuhangi told our reporter that he has already reported the matter to the Kabale district NRM registrar Mourice Keitaba Mugenga for follow up.
He however called for harmony among voters saying the matter shall be addressed.
The Kabale district NRM registrar Mourice Keitaba Mugenga could not be reached for a comment as he could not receive his known phone contacts.
