School heads in Kabale and Rubanda district are concerned about the low pace at which candidates are returning back to schools after a COVID 19 break.
The number of candidates in secondary schools that have so far turned-up from 6 months of COVID-19 break has reduced by 30% in Kabale and Rubanda districts.
According to the pronouncement made by President Yoweri Museveni on September 20, schools were expected to reopen on October 15 for finalists and candidates.
Now, According to head teachers www.mknewslink.com reporter interacted with in Kabala and Rubanda districts, not all candidates are coming back to school after COVID 19 long break because majority of them went for causal works especially boda boda riding.
However, Bernard Bikorwomuhangi the head teacher of Kabale brainstorm high school attributes the reduction in numbers to financial problems faced by parents.
Bikorwomuhangi added that COVID19 affected parents especially their earnings because many businesses from which they would earn their living were closed.
Cleophas Agaba the head teacher St. Thomas Aquinas secondary school Kashaki in Bubare sub county Rubanda district says many boys from his school and neighborhood joined boda boda business.
Amos Ahimbisibwe the head teacher at Bubare secondary school in Rubanda district advises parents who are still with their candidate students at home to talk to the school authorities so as they can report back to school and copy up with others.
It is however different with Abraham Akampurira the head teacher of Kigezi high school who says that the number of candidates who are reporting to the school are more than those who went home during COVID 19 break.
