OVER 100 FISTULA PATIENTS ADMITTED AT MBARARA HOSPITAL

Dr. Celestine Barigye; the director of Mbarara regional referral hospital has said that the number of fistula patients is increasing day by day at the hospital yet the medication is still low.
While addressing people at Mbarara pharmaceutical grounds yesterday at the day to mark world fistula day, he said that the hospital now receives over 100 fistula patients from districts of Mbarara, Ntungamo, Kiruhura,Isingiro,Ibanda and greater Bushenyi.
Over 40 patients were treated at Mbarara regional referral hospital with the disease. He said that the most cause of fistula disease is early marriages, and those women who deliver from Villages.
The guest of honor Dr. Sarah Opendi, the state minister for heath stressed that men should help their wives by bringing them to the hospitals whenever they want to deliver to avoid the disease.
Fistula is a disease commonly in women where you find that urine and feaces all come at once.
