In Rubanda—
Achilles Byaruhanga has blamed the increased drowning on Lake Bunyonyi on poor leadership in the area.
Achilles said this while meeting his supporters of Ishanga, Bushato and Kabele villages in Bushura parish near Lake Bunyonyi.
Javira Akampurira a resident of Hamurwa told Achilles that in November he lost his sister and five children after they drowned in the lake.
Achilles who is also the executive director of nature Uganda tasked the residents to vote good leaders who are concerned on the needs of the people that they represent other than prioritizing their needs or making empty promises.
He therefore donated 55 lifesaving jackets to the residents saying that these would help them curb down the drowning rate at the lake.
Achilles Byaruhanga is an independent candidate currently chasing the Rubanda East parliamentary seat with the incumbent Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira (NRM), the chairman LCV Chairman Jogo Kenneth (independent), Jusper Ayebare (NUP), Benjamin Mbabazi (FDC), Henry Kamugisha (independent).
