RUKIGA: POLICE CONFIRM ARREST OF 5 AGENTS OF LCV CHAIRMAN CANDIDATE MBAREEBA

Police in Rukiga have confirmed the arrest of 5 agents of FDC flag bearer for LCV chairmanship Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba.

The arrested are Jeremiah Nimusiima, Chris Twinomucunguzi, Derrick Muhereza Kateeba, Mark Tushabe and Ivan Nkamushaba.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police mouthpiece, the 5 were arrested for allegedly obstructing an Electoral officer who was driving to deliver electoral items that included biometric machine among others.

However, Kwarikunda Michael says the arrested were his agents and that they were picked by Police and Army at Habwera-Ntagaga Market in Kitanga Parish, Kashambya sub-county Rukiga district

Mbareeba Michael says that the agents were investigating allegations of vote rigging in favour of NRM’s flag bearer Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere

This was after security officials led by Purikeria Muhindo Mwiine Kunihiira,the Rukiga RDC and Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi ,Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament elect held an impromptu meeting with Police Officers at Rwamucucu Sub-County headquarters where ballot papers were kept.
