In Kazo/Kiruhura–
Boda boda cyclists in Kazo and Kiruhura districts have expressed concern over the increasing cases of extortion by personnel at different checkpoints.
Recently, authorities introduced quarantine in Kazo districts due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease.
Total livestock quarantine has been sanctioned by authorities in both districts in the fight against spread of the disease.
Boda boda cyclists at Kazo upper stage noted that at each checkpoint they are charged money starting from ugx2000 which they say is affecting their daily income yet they are not responsible for this outbreak.
The Kazo District veterinary officer, Dr. Ronald Kiyemba has however warned that no one is supposed to collect money from road users and whoever is caught will be subjected to courts of law because farmers mobilize to pay the amount required in the fight against the spread of this disease.
