MAN KILLED BY ALCOHOL IN RUKUNGIRI

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which a male resident of Nyamitooma II Parish in Western ward, Bikurungu Town Council died.
The deceased Wellen Oribariho 36 was found dead on Wednesday at around 6 pm in his house by his wife.
According to the residents, Oribariho an alcohol addict spent the whole day in a bar until 5pm when he decided to go back home.
“He was later found dead by his wife Yusitina Turamyomwe who was coming back from garden, and she alerted police at Bikurungu police post,” residents told the press.
Yusitina was then arrested by Bikurungu police to help them in investigations after residents suspected that he was poisoned.
Yusitina acknowledged having had misunderstandings with her husband but ruled out killing him.
“He would most of the times chase us from the house whenever he comes drunk but I couldn’t kill him,” she confessed.
Rukungiri central police station team together with a doctor visited the scene, did a postmortem and confirmed that the deceased died of alcohol.
The body was handed over to the family and relatives for burial.
The deceased is survived by a widow and five children.
