RUKUNGIRI RESIDENTS DEFY SOPS AS COVID 19 BITES MORE

Teachers have been asked to go for COVID 19 vaccinations as one of the requirement for schools to reopen.
The call was made by Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner RDC Mr Bewayo Nsubuga Stephen during an exclusive interview with our reporter on the current COVID 19 status within the district.
During the weekend, Rukungiri district received 2,492 dozes of modulo COVID 19 vaccines which are meant for people who are taking first jab and 640 AstraZeneca vaccines for people mainly taking the second jab.
Speaking with our reporter, RDC Nsubuga encouraged all teachers in Rukungiri to go for vaccination as soon as possible to pave way for full reopening of the sector.
Nsubuga however cautioned owners of bars operating secretly defying presidential directive, explaining that intelligence is on ground and one time they will be arrested under security operations and charged accordingly.
He added that many people no longer wear face masks, neither observe social distancing nor sanitize though COVID 19 is still around.
1,104 cases have fully recovered, 78 are still active and they are all at home based whereas 23 people died. On Tuesday 63 samples were tested where three turned positive indicating that COVID 19 is still within the district.
