KABAGARAME POPULAR PORK MARKET CLOSED FOR TWO MONTHS

Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council animal husbandry department has closed Kabagarame popular pork market for two months following an outbreak of African swine fever among pigs in the area.
According to the municipal animal husbandry officer Mr. Moses Bugyendo, the market will not be allowed to open beginning 1st Nov.2021 until two months elapse.
Bushenyi District Veterinary Department as well issued a notice closing all pork markets in the district.
Bugyendo noted that other pork selling points within the municipality are also closed until two months.
Kabagarame has greatly suffered a setback because of COVID 19. It has been closed most of the time since the outbreak of the disease in the country.
Kabagarame is an international pork market where people from cross Uganda, DRC, northern Tanzania, Burundi, and Rwanda gather every Saturday to enjoy pork and millet.
Bugyendo noted that they expect the disease to have ceased by the end of two months.
Sheema district has also closed all pork markets because of the disease outbreak.
