OPIUM SMOKER STABS COLLEAGUE TO DEATH AT BURIAL IN KANUNGU

Police in Kanungu are holding an opium smoker who allegedly stabbed his friend at a burial.
Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the suspect as Tusingwire Denham a 19 year old resident of Nyakatunguru village Bugongi parish in Bugongi subcounty Kanungu district.
Tusingwire allegedly stabbed Ndyomuhangi Benjamin a 20 year old resident of Kayenje cell Mpangaro parish in Nyamirama subcounty Kanungu district.
It is alleged that on the 11th/12/2021 at around 1440hrs while at the burial in Rwamanyonyi cell Kakinga parish in Bugongi sub county the deceased got misunderstandings with suspect on the issues yet to be known ,was stabbed in the neck using a sharp instrument and died instantly.
The residents told the police that the suspect and deceased have been friends and known opium smokers in the village and therefore it’s believed that may be the suspect killed the other under the influence of the opium.
The scene was visited by Kanungu police Homicide team and the body of the deceased taken to Kambuga hospital for postmortem
