STOP DENYING INFORMATION TO JOURNALISTS—MINISTER FOR ICT WARNS GOV’T OFFICIAL

Over 60 Journalists from the eight districts of Bunyoro sub-region were yesterday equipped with journalistic skills in different fields but more especially in reporting.
The three day training has been organized by the Media Council of Uganda under the Theme ‘The Drive for a responsible media in Uganda’ at Country Inn Hotel Masindi.
Launching the training, Rose Kirabira Kobusinge the Resident District Commissioner {RDC} Masindi district applauded journalists for reporting positively and objectively on various issues, she however warned them against being corrupted by bad actors in the country.
Cosmas Byaruhanga the Masindi district Chairperson appreciated the efforts ejected by journalists across the country, he however articulated some of the challenges journalists encounter as they execute their duties.
Minister for ICT and National guidance Chris Baryomunsi who also graced the training appealed to journalists to stick on truth and to always desist from bias reporting more especially during the election period.
The minister also hinted on the challenges most journalists face across the country saying there is denial of information by government officials and leaders hence calling upon them to cooperate with the fourth estate for easy dissemination of information.
Area Member of Parliament Masindi Municipality Hon. Joab Businge said media is a vehicle of development in this country and urged journalists to always remain equipped with knowledge to allow them report in a balanced manner.
