The 12 are reported to have written a petition to the municipal town clerk demanding for their outstanding allowances whose total amount was readily established.
In their petition, the said workers stated that they would not go back to their duty stations until the allowances are paid.
In response, the town clerk Rukungiri municipal council has suspended them pending investigations.
Cosmas Mugabiirwe the new senior human resource officer for Rukungiri Municipality said that it is not proper for municipal employees to boycott work and derail service delivery.
Cosmas added that it is not in order for government workers to strike over allowances since they are paid monthly.
Mugabiirwe urged employees to strive to ensure proper service delivery.
He also called upon public servants to do their work according to the public service standing orders that clearly show them how they should behave.
He noted that the suspended workers still have a chance to get back to their jobs if they correct their mistakes.
