FARMERS WORRIED OVER CHILDREN’S SCHOOL FEES AFTER HAILSTORM HITS RUKUNGIRI

Over 300 farmers from different villages in the district are in losses after a hailstorm destroyed their crops yesterday afternoon.
Talking to www.mknewslink.com, residents narrated that the heavy rains started in the afternoon and rained for almost two hours destroying lays of crops in their gardens.
“The rains started around 1 PM with heavy winds that destroyed all our crops; banana plantations, beans, maize and others were strongly destroyed,” Andrew Muhereza a resident told our reporter.
“We raise our children’s school fees and food from crops, now we don’t know where to start from,” Residents from Kebisoni Sub county said.
Authorities in Rukungiri district have said that they are going to urgently take action to save residents from starvation since their main sources of livelihood were destroyed.
