MASINDI HOSPITAL OFFICIALS FACE ARREST OVER FAILURE TO ACCOUNT FOR GOV’T FUNDS
By Innocent Atuganyira
In Masindi—-
Three officials of Masindi main hospital in Masindi district have been given a 48 hour ultimatum to account for the money that the hospital received from government or be arrested.
Masindi RDC Emmy Ngabirano issued the ultimatum during a public accountability forum also known as ‘’Baraza’’ organized by CAO and RDC’s offices at the hospital on Monday.
The officials include the Medical Superintendent Dr. Felix Twinomugisha, the administrator Simon Baguma and Suzan Kabonesa, the Accountant.
The trouble for the trio started after Dr. Twinomugisha presented the accountability for the 190 million shillings that the hospital received from government in the 2021/22 financial year which RDC Ngabirano described as unsatisfying.
He therefore directed the officials to clearly show the sources of the funds and how they were utilised.
“I want the breakdown of the source of money, how and where it was spent. I’m not satisfied with your accountability,” Ngabirano said.
“I’m giving you 48 hours to make fresh accountability for the money and present it to the district leaders or else you will be arrested to answer charges of corruption,’’ Ngabirano added.
According to the report seen by www.mknewslink.com , the hospital received a conditional grant of 190 million shillings from government in the 2021/22 financial year and 17 million shillings had not been utilised.
We couldn’t get a comment from the three accused officials on the allegations against them by press time as they were not willing to say anything on the matter.
