UGANDAN GOVERNMET REPARTRIATES 10 M23 REBELS TO DRC

The government of Uganda has repatriated ten former fighters of M23 back to DRC a country they have been fighting since April 2012.
The ten are part of hundreds of M23 rebels under the UPDF protection who escaped battle field in DRC between 2015 and 2016.
www.mknewslink.com has learnt that the rebels have since been staying at Bihanga military training school in Ibanda district.
They were officially handed over to Ambassador Jean Pierre Massala the head of mission in DRC at UPDF Second division headquarters in Mbarara, www.mknewslink.com can confirm
The Ambassador likened them as prodigal sons who he said will be received into their country with dignity.
He assured them of descent reintegration for those who wish to go back into society adding that those who willing to join the army FARDC would be welcome and called upon other Congolese nationals to go back home and develop their country which he said is now peaceful.
Col Fred Karara the deputy division commander said six of them had escaped from Bihanga and went back to fight in DRC where they were repulsed and came back to Uganda and later on arrested charged with illegal entry and sentenced to six months at Ndorwa government prison in Kabale district but after serving their sentence applied for voluntary repatriation.
