NWSC TO CONSTRUCT 11 BILLION WATER PROJECT IN IGARA WEST, BUSHENYI DISTRICT

National Water and Sewerage Corporation is soon to embark on the construction of an 11 Billion Ugandan shilling water supply project to serve the entire Igara West and one sub-county in Igara East.
According to the project manager, Eng Herbert Mujuni, the project will be constructed at Warugo in Rushinya parish Kakanju Sub-county Igara West.
Eng. Mujuni added that the contract will be signed next week and construction will start in October 2022.
This was revealed during a sensitization meeting held at Nyakabingo primary school near where the water supply scheme will be constructed.
Eng. Francis Kateeba The NWSC Technical advisor for Ankole and Greater Mbarara areas told some of the beneficiaries of the project that it will be completed in one year, and that they will be pumping 2.5Million liters per day.
He revealed that the beneficiaries of the project include the Sub-countries of Kyamuhunga, Kakanju, Ruhumuro and town councils of Kyamuhunga and Bitooma.
The NWSC area manager for Greater Bushenyi Eng. Sam Kiggundu noted that the money that will be used to put up the project will be got from locally raised funds from NWSC because there is no external funder.
Paul Turyamureeba Kahiigi the principle communications officer, NWSC called upon the public not to demand for compensation for where the pipes will pass because there is no budget for that since there are no funders.
