In Hoima—–
Three Emyooga defaulters in Hoima have been arrested and taken to Hoima Central Police Station to record statement for failure to pay the loan within agreed period.
The arrested are Annet Kobusinge from southern ward B produce association, Monica Kyarisiima from Kyentale winners produce association and Mubarak Musinguzi treasurer of southern ward B Produce association.
This came after Hoima East Produce Dealers SACCOs’ sought for intervention from the office of the Resident City Commissioner Hoima on grounds that some produce associations had failed to pay back loans.
Albina Kaikara Kaheru the Chairperson Hoima East Produce SACCO said that as SACCO they were the best performers of Emyooga payments in the city until southern ward B produce association and Kyentale winners failed to clear the loans they requested early last year.
She said they have decided to make an alarm to the RCC Hoima for help so that these associations can repay the loans since others kept dodging them.
Mubarak Musinguzi, the Treasure of Southern Ward B Produce Association explained that they have failed to pay the Emyooga loans in time because members are no longer committed adding that two Harriet Kemirembe and Mary Muntu have never paid any coin towards their loan clearance.
Musinguzi said most of the members have become reluctant in that those who are supposed to pay 50,000 towards loans are just paying 20,000.
Deogratius Byabagambi, the Former Inspector of Schools Hoima District and also member of Abeteraine produce association revealed that most people taking Emyooga loans don’t have financial discipline.
Badru Mugabi the RCC Hoima stressed that there are many government projects that have been failed by the people but this time they are so strict with Emyooga.
Mugabi said they are going to arrest all the defaulters of emyooga because it’s one of the projects that is aimed at improving households in the country.
