UNKNOWN ASSAILANTS MURDER TWO PEOPLE IN RUKIGA

Police in Rukiga District is investigating circumstances under which two people were murdered.

The chairperson LC3 Rwamucucu sub county Mr. Mugisha Eddy, said the first murder was to the prejudice of Silver Rubanda aged 61 years, a resident of Rwabatunga cell Noozi parish, Rwamucucu sub county.

The deceased allegedly left his home yesterday morning and went for drinking till late when he was heard at around 23:00hrs going back home while making noise, but did not reach home according to his wife.

Mugisha said that today morning 29/3/2023 was found dead, a few meters to his home in a foot path tied with a rope around his neck that was used to strangle him.

According to the, Kigezi Region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said that when local residents learnt of his death, they suspected Alosious Byamukama aged 24 years of Nyamiko cell Noozi parish, they started hunting for him since they knew of their previous disputes in the village.

The two had a court case going on that was pending judgement tomorrow the 30/03/2023 in Kabale court.

Maate told journalists today that after getting the suspected Byamukama, they badly assaulted him but police rescued him and was rushed to Mbaro Health Center IV where he also died after reaching at the Health Center.

Police confirmed that both scenes have been visited and processed, inquiries underway and upon completion, whoever will have involved in any of the murders must be brought to book.

The Police Spokesperson notes that Case of strangulation and murder by mob were registered at Rukiga District Police Post under reference number CRB 167 &168/2023 respectively.
