RUKIGA DISTRICT IN SHORTAGE OF DRUGS AMONG HEALTHY FACILITIES

Rukiga District LC V Chairperson Robert Kakwerere has called upon the government through National Drug Authority (NDA) to quickly intervene in solving the drug shortage in Healthy facilities.
The district boss was speaking during the lay down of the 2023/2024 financial year estimated budget, a function held yesterday 30th March 2023 at District Rukiko hall.
Robert Kakwerere said that he has met and received many calls from people, complaining of how they have failed to find medicines in healthy centres and other government health facilities.
Speaking as the guest of honour, the Deputy Resident District commissioner (D/RDC) Rukiga district Mr. Kamusiime Zadoch said that even in Healthy facilities where there are drugs, doctors steal them, something they must follow up to weed out.
The Deputy RDC also noted that the district is grabbling with on an increase in Mudder cases followed by land grabbing for both the public and government lands.
Speaking to the Media after the council, the Rukiga district Speaker Hon. Akampurira Oscar said that a big share of the budget was allocated to Education and Health because there are a lot of things missing in those specific sectors.
Akampurira Oscar revealed that the education sector itself has a number of un teachers who need to be paid their salary earlier Schools and Healthy facilities need to be renovated so we were forced to give these sectors a big share so that they can perform to their best without any hindrance.
