MAN DROWNS WHILE SWIMMING IN LAKE ALBERT

A 30-year-old man has died after drowning while swimming in Lake Albert with eight colleagues.

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza identified the deceased as Mr. Inamasiko Gerald, a resident of Kasenyi Village in Ngwedo Sub County Buliisa District.

According to Hakiza, the deceased and eight others hired a vehicle with registration number UBL 587T and went on a tour to the Butiaba landing site.

Hakiza further said that they went swimming at around 1pm, and the deceased drowned at around 3pm. Marine police at Butiaba rushed to the scene and retrieved the body,’’ he said.

The regional police sporkesperson asserted that the body was conveyed by police to Buliisa district general hospital for postmortem.

Hakiza advised people who don’t know how to swim to stay away from water, always determine the weather, and use swimming costumes to avoid such incidents.
