According to the memo signed by Kyanika grade one Magistrate, his worship Muchelula Dismus only civil, land, and family cases from all town councils and sub counties of Bufumbira south are permitted to be handled in the meantime while criminal cases will remain being handled at the Kisoro Chief Magistrate court. Case hearing started on 26th May this year.
Speaking to voice of Muhabura, the Kisoro district Chief Magistrate court supervisor, Myres Tisaasa said that Kyanika grade one court is currently unable to handle criminal cases because it lacks a state attorney.
He also noted that Kyanika court will keep operating under the jurisdiction of Kisoro chief magistrate court because it has no Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) number, credible police and prisons.
Tisaasa also said that residents in Bunagana town council and its Vicinity will be using Kyanika court for at least a few months as they wait for Bunagana grade one court premises to be completed.
Meanwhile, he revealed that a request to have another grade one court established in Rubuguri town council was submitted but it has not yet been approved.
