KABALE DEPUTY RDC ORDERS PDM COMMITTEES TO RETURN BENEFICIARIES MONEY IN 14DAYS

The individuals responsible for registering beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) have been urgently instructed to return any money they may have collected from the beneficiaries within a 14-day period. Failure to comply will result in their arrest.

In recent developments, beneficiaries of the PDM in the district uncovered that the loan application process was being significantly delayed due to capacity challenges at the grassroots level.

This concern was addressed by Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Andrew Ronald Bakaki during a meeting held at Kabale Rukiiko Hall in Kabale District today, on the 16th of June 2023.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide guidance on the implementation of the PDM and the disbursement of the parish revolving fund.

It was attended by Kabale district Community Development Officers (CDOs), extension workers, sub-county chiefs, town clerks, town agents, and other district officials.

D.RDC Bakaki stressed that those responsible for registering PDM beneficiaries should not have collected any money from them. Receiving funds directly from PDM beneficiaries was deemed inappropriate.

He further emphasized that PDM beneficiaries should only receive funding for projects based on the advice provided by the extension workers. If an extension worker fails to reach and guide an individual, they will not be able to benefit from the Parish Development Model program.

Additionally, DRDC Bakaki requested the sub-county chiefs to diligently monitor the amount of PDM funds allocated to their respective parishes or sub-counties and ensure their proper implementation. He emphasized that the parish chiefs and sub-county chiefs have the authority to oversee the progress of the PDM in their areas.
