Atleast 205 senior candidates of Ntare school in Mbarara city have been suspended for allegedly protesting school’s decision against them sneaking phones into dormitories.
The headteacher Saul Rwampororo confirmed the group’s suspension on Tuesday.
Rwampororo said that the school took a bold decision on Tuesday following last night’s fracas where students destroyed a number of property including the recent installed CCTV cameras.
He added that the school board of governors will soon sit to assess the damages and chart a way forward.
When contacted,Francis Tumwebaze the Mbarara city Education officer said he had not been served with suspension letter, saying he can only comment when he has it.
On his part,SP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson, said no arrest has been made as the situation is now being managed by the school.
It’s worth noting that the suspension comes at a time when senior six candidates are remaining with only one month to sit for their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations in November.
