FUSO FIGHTER KILLS ONE IN KABALE

KABALE – Police in Kabale District are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred at Mwirangizo cell, Kitumba Sub County.
ASP Ely Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesman, disclosed that a fuso fighter with registration number UBE 225K, driven by 50-year-old Byamukama James from Lower Bugongi Northern division, Kabale Municipality, was involved in the incident.
The driver, Byamukama James, is currently in police custody.
The victim, identified as Twebembere Pius, 39, a resident of Kasinde cell in Kitumba Sub County, lost his life in the accident.
According to Maate, the preliminary investigation suggests that Twebembere had been a turn man on the same vehicle but had not been working. When he noticed the approaching vehicle, he attempted to jump and climb on it from behind.
However, Twebembere missed his footing and fell underneath the vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries as the vehicle ran over him.
The police promptly responded, visited the scene, and transported the deceased’s body to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The involved motor vehicle has been secured for pending inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).
