MURDER IN RUNGIRI BAR

Police in Rukungiri district are on a manhunt of unidentified assailant who assaulted a 45-year-old man, resulting in his death before he could be taken to the hospital in Kazindiro parish, Rukungiri district.

The victim, identified as Edson Byaruhanga a resident of Ruhira cell in Kazindiro parish, Bugangari sub-county, Rukungiri district.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred March 5, 2024, at around 02:00pm, when Byaruhanga was discovered unconscious in front of Sarah’s bar at Kazindiro trading center by Owakubariho Aggrey, who was on his way to work.

The deceased Byaruhanga was swiftly transported to Nyakibale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Maate added that the Bugangari police were notified of the incident by the area chairperson, Ruhindi Twijukye. A suspected murder case was reported to police station and the crime scene was promptly visited, examined, and documented.

Maate revealed that Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and the body was transferred to Rwakabengo HCIII mortuary for postmortem examination.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Mr. Byaruhanga’s death to come forward and assist with the investigation.
