In Kazo—-
Three children have been killed and another injured after unknown assailants reportedly broke into their home in Kajuzya Village, Nkungu Sub-County, Kazo District, while their parents were away in search of work.
The victims have been identified as Catherine Akankwatsa, 14, Grace, 13, and Deus Arinaitwe, 10. A fourth child, a three-year-old boy, survived the attack with injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a health facility.
The incident is believed to have occurred last night, although the exact circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear.
The children were reportedly left at home after they travelled to a distant area to look for work amid financial difficulties and outstanding loans.
Police in Kazo have launched investigations into the incident as they work to establish the motive behind the killings and identify those responsible. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Ruhoko Health Center for postmortem examinations.
Benjamin Nabimanya, the LC1 Chairperson of Kajuzya Cell, condemned the attack and expressed concern over the decision by the parents to leave the children alone for an extended period.
Nabimanya said the circumstances in which the children were left without adult supervision may have exposed them to danger, although investigations are still ongoing to establish what exactly happened.
Kanyankole Apollo, the District Councilor for Nkungu Sub-County, called on security agencies to intensify their operations in the area and conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.
Police had not yet issued an official statement on the incident by the time of incident.
