KAMPALA — Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded two Chinese nationals to Luzira Prison over allegations that they fraudulently obtained Shs63 million from Punjig Casino at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
The accused, identified as Liu Min and Li Wensguang, were remanded until November 6, 2026, when they are expected to return to court for plea taking and further proceedings.
Court proceedings were delayed due to the absence of a Chinese interpreter, who was required to facilitate communication between the accused and the court.
The duo is charged with cheating, contrary to Section 287 of the law.
Prosecution alleges that the two fraudulently obtained Shs63 million from the casino on October 25, 2026, using tricks while playing a baccarat machine.
The prosecution further alleges that the accused forged tickets by swapping play cards using a card-changing device.
The allegations have not yet been proven in court, and the accused are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The case is expected to return to court on November 6 for the next stage of proceedings.
