ONE KNOCKED DEAD BY SPEEDING VEHICLE

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a bodaboda cyclist was yesterday knocked dead at Rwenkureijo in Buyanja Town council Rukungiri District.
The deceased identified as Alex Tumusiime aged 33; a resident of Rugongi ,kasozi in Rukungiri Municipality who was knocked dead by a speeding Toyota sprinter registration number UAF 647Z while driving his motor cycle registration number UEK912M Bajaj boxer .
According to an eye witness who preferred anonymity the deceased was riding while holding one liter jerrycan of alcohol in his hand and talking on the phone before he rammed into the speeding vehicle.
The Rukungiri District Traffic Police officer Irene Nanangwe identified the driver as Jackson Ampamiza aged 29 ;a resident of Nyakinengo and that the body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo health centre 111 mortuary for postmortem as investigations are ongoing.
She further cautioned road users to avoid reckless driving, over speeding carelessness in this festive season and always respect traffic rules to avoid road accidents.
This is the second abode boda cyclist to be knocked dead by a speeding vehicle in a period not less than two weeks.
