KABAROLE FISHERIES OFFICER ARRESTED OVER LEASING LAKES

The commission of inquiry led by lady justice Catherine Bamugemereire Tuesday afternoon arrested the Kabarole District fisheries officer; James Brian Baguma for failure to explain some queries about the leasing of 20 crater lakes in the district to Ferdsult engineering company services.
While grilling him before the commission, he was blamed for miss guiding the district, solicitor General and on behalf of the community due to his own intentions. The commission also asked Baguma to explain who are the owners of Ferdsult, but failed to explain.
The commission observed that fisheries officer together with Ferdsult bosses faked a permit from the ministry of Agriculture, fisheries and animal industry allowing them to fish in 2o crater.
According to the commission, on 10th Dec-2013Ferdsult brought a fake permit document to the former Kabarole district chief administrative officer Ochakala Nickolas claiming to have got from the ministry while they had another latter from ministry dated 3rd November 2017 al allowing them to fish.
The commission also observed that the same fisheries officer and Ferdsult did not follow the MOU signed with the district which was of 5-10 years but they smuggled it into 30 years and denying the community from accessing the crater lakes.
However the justice ordered police to arrest Baguma until he produces the documents he used to follow with Ferdsult.
In 2015,Kabarole district local government entered into a memorandum of understanding with Ferdsult engineering company services to lease 20 carter lakes in Kabarole.
