Mr. Sankara Byaruhanga, 22 year old, born in Kamwenge district is a 3rd year I.T student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
He is quite optimistic that the values and quality of service offering, helps one drive a business to enviable heights and also help in attracting numbers of clients that make the intended business highly profitable. He is always dedicated to establishing solution-based business ideas, well aware that in order to become the number one choice in western Uganda region, one must continue to deliver quality services.
In what he regards as his first business idea, Sankara begun with solving a fast-growing problem of Vehicle theft in Western Uganda and Uganda at large. He started a Global Positioning System (GPS) installation company.
Be it a car or a motorbike, one may want to monitor it. GPS is the best system one must embrace as it enables the owner of the vehicle to monitor using his mobile phone.
HOW IT WORKS
A GPS device is installed and hidden in a vehicle, the owner the vehicle is then given an application, installed to his phone.
A login-account is created for the user and assigned unique User Account and Password (updatable). All what the user needs is to login, wherever he/she is at any time, and guess what!, the whole vehicle is held at hand.
On your phone, you will set the desired speed limit and if the driver exceeds this limit, you are notified either by alarm or ringing or vibrating, give you which speed he is driving at.
With your phone, you can also set Geo-Fence, thus geographical boundary. Here, you actually saying, ‘My car should not go beyond 2 meters away from where it is’ or ‘My vehicle should not go beyond Mbarara’. Once the driver or rider gets off the set boundary, you are notified.
100% coverage of the world is what GPS does. With your phone, you have ability to locate your vehicle wherever it is. You have the map and satellite view, thus you also get a picture of where your car is.
The best feature with the system is, you can stop your vehicle from wherever you are, using your phone. So in case of any violations to the above, or most importantly in case your car is stolen, you have the chance to stop your vehicle-engine.
With this, Sankara says he quite sure the problem of Car theft is a forgotten experience. Companies with a number of vehicles also have a chance to monitor their drivers.
Asking him about why he chose this idea, he answers briefly “Passion. Passion for I.T”
